Overview
Good Startup is a cross border, impact-focused venture capital firm founded by successful entrepreneurs and investors with experience across North America and Asia. The firm recently launched Good Protein Fund, which plans to make 30+ investments in the alternative protein sector globally. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Partners, the candidate will be responsible for the finance, accounting, taxation, compliance, administration and human resources functions at Good Startup and its funds under management comprising the Good Protein Fund master and feeder funds and the General Partner entity. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for managing requests and external relationships with auditors, fund administrators, banks, tax consultants and government agencies and will be responsible for the following areas:
Finance & Accounting: Review monthly accounting package prepared by the fund administrator and manage the finance and accounting function across all entities. Responsible for record keeping across all entities.
Audits & Portfolio Valuation: Manage year-end audits and periodic valuations of portfolio companies.
Reporting: Maintaining fiscal records and responsible for all other corporate financial reports. Responsible for internal and external reporting including cashflow across all fund entities, periodic investor reporting, performing investment valuations, NAV calculations, IRR, K1 reports. Respond to enquiries from investors, assist with preparing reports and presentations for Board and Investor meetings.
Portfolio Support: Review documents and provide support on any purchase and disposals of investments. Assist portfolio companies on an as-needed basis for finance and accounting related matters.
Fund administration: Ensure correct calculations of capital calls and distributions, maintain investors’ capital accounts, Fund and Fund Management Company bank accounts and fund related documentation.
Compliance: Responsible for setting up the Fund’s Risk Management Framework, compliance with all applicable Monetary Authority of Singapore rules & regulations, Customer Due Diligence, Anti Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism standards and other requirements.
Taxation: Primary point of contact with tax consultants, responsible for the compliance with tax regulations and compliance and reporting relating to tax exemptions.
Human Resources & Administration: Support the managing partners for human resource and office administration.
Requirements
A relevant degree in Finance or Accounting or Business Management or an MBA/CPA and ideally 8-10 years of financial and operations management experience in Venture Capital / Private Equity Fund Accounting
IFRS/US GAAP Knowledge and exposure to investment transactions and structures
Detail-orientation, professional presence and strong relationship skills to interact effectively with startups, investors, influencers and ecosystem stakeholders
Excellent written and oral communication skills
A self-starter who can work with a small, high-performing team environment while managing a wide range of responsibilities
High degree of initiative and personal responsibility to anticipate issues, find solutions and drive resolution
Prepared to work in a fast-paced environment build a career in venture capital
